About Iron County
Iron
County is a mountain community with four distinct and beautiful
seasons and 310 clear days a year. Iron County received its name
because of the iron ore found in the hills surrounding the area.
Pioneers arrived in the area on Nov. 11, 1851 and soon set up the
first iron refinery west of the Mississippi, using ore from the
hills and coal from nearby Cedar Canyon.
