Tune in the third Tuesday of every month at 4:30 pm on radio station 590 AM to hear the lates updates on the local real estate market. Brough to you by the Iron County Board of Realtors, JUST THE FACTS is a program providing information for any individual curious about real estate!
Next show: Tuesday, March 16, 2010, 4:30 pm
If you were at the January luncheon, you were likely involved in some conversation regarding the 2010 budget for the Iron County Board of Realtors and already know that the topic was tabled until the February luncheon. Typically the January luncheon involves a quick rundown of the budget, a lot of glazed eyes, and a no fuss approval. This year it is exciting to see the members getting involved with how their dollars are being allocated!
Although the bulk of our yearly dues are beyond our control (UAR and NAR portions), members do have a say in where they want the remaining dollars to be spent. Here’s the problem, though: We have been operating outside of our means for a little while now. Despite scaling back over the last couple of years, our operating costs are still higher than our income.
The budget issue will be taken up at the upcoming Brokers’ Meeting on February 5, 2010. So, if you have any suggestions/ideas, please communicate those to your broker so that you are represented at that meeting. This is your board! Your board of directors are here to represent you. So let your ideas be known! It was refreshing to have input at luncheon and hopefully the dialogue from the members will continue!!
The Iron County Board of Realtors’ Covention dates have been changed to March 18th and 19th, 2010. This was necessary after a scheduling conflict at the venue for the original dates. Flyers will be coming to your offices this week. Let us know if you would be interested in an option for “one day registration”.

Adriane Kadera, Emcee
Steve Brown gave an education update letting us know that NAR is waiving the $175 fee for the new Short Sale certification. The live class required for the certification will likely cost around $85.
Convention 2010 will need to be rescheduled from the original March 11th and 12th dates in Springdale. The new dates will be announced as soon as they are confirmed. Early Bird registration is looking like it will be approximately $100 and for that you will receive 12 hr of continuing education, two lunches, and a dinner!
Darcy Cannon announced a change in Board Tour boundaries for the southeast and southwest tours. The maps will be included on the tour sign up sheets.
Chris Dahlin’s weather report included a surprising statistic that homes beings sold as an arms length transaction (not by a bank) have dropped in price by only about 17% whereas institutional home sales (by a bank) have dropped in price by 27%. An important figure to share with your sellers!

New Wood Family Home
This year’s Veterans Day celebration was something special for our community and one of it’s bravest members. After several months of collaboration between Homes For Our Troops and many many volunteers, Sgt Travis Wood and his family were handed the keys to their new home.
The Realtor community is so proud to have been a part of it all by donating $10,000 through UARHOF, and several members donating time.
Realtors in attendance at the key ceremony were Jan Johnson (Sgt Wood is her grandson!), Ron Adams, and Rich Gillette.

A great turn out for the third quarter broker meeting. Welcome to Kim Williams from the Washington County Board of Realtors.
Updates were given from UAR and NAR conventions with some great information for everyone such as the new Short Sale designation through NAR.
Some great changes were proposed for Board Tour and for data forms. Watch for those soon

Dan McDonald
Dan McDonald brought some always pertinent insight into the legal issues that we, as Realtors, can potentially face. Please, don’t forget to document! In a tough market more people than ever look for reasons to dip into Realtors’ allegedly deep pockets.
Councilman Elect and Past President, Ron Adams, thanks the Realtor organization for their support, monetary and otherwise.

Bravo to the Iron County Board of Realtors for not letting a slow year in business dampen their spirit of giving!
Once again, thanks to UARHOF, the Iron County Board of Realtors has donated $10,000 towards a fantastic local cause. This time the donation was given to the local Care and Share towards a new facility.
Care and Share is a cause that the Iron County Board of Realtors has consistently supported over the years as a way to give back to our community!

What a Difference a Day Makes
As you hopefully know, the Iron County Board of Realtors, through UARHOF, donated $10,000 to Homes For Our Troops, specifically for the home built for Jan Johnson’s grandson, SGT Travis Woods. The following pictures are from the Build Brigade (a big three day push to get the bulk of the framing completed).
A special thank you to all of those who helped with the build brigade, and an even bigger thanks to all of the brokerages that participate in UARHOF

Noel Looks Lost...
Summer luncheon happened so fast.
Bonus points if you can name the lyric reference!
The annual July luncheon has come and gone as quickly as summer always seems to. Once again taking place in the canyon park, this years “theme” was just relax, eat, and socialize. Sometimes it is refreshing to just keep it simple!
